My name is Aya Yamazawa. I am currently attending California State University, Fullerton in California. I am majoring in graphic design. I was born on July 15, 1984 in Yamagata, Japan. I grew up in countryside surrounded by rice fields and orchards. Having started learning English as a second language in schools, I became interested in movies. At the age of seventeen, I decided to go studying abroad and stayed in Victoria, Canada for eleven months. As soon as I graduated from High School in Japan, I came to Palm Desert, U.S.A and attended College of the Desert, where I found the interest in graphic design. Throughout the studies in California State University, Fullerton, I came to be fascinated with publication design. I find it intriguing to solve the problems of organization, typography, grid system as well as creative design.

My design is usually concise and very simple. I believe in "less is more." However, I try not to stay in one style since graphic design deals with various kinds of media. Though medium may vary, I am always fascinated and careful about choice of colors. In my belief, colors could say as much as design elements. They set a tone of design which gives the first visual impression to the audience. Also, typography could be a large part of the impression as well.

I strongly believe that we are a part of universe. Taoists say that everything that happens to us is always beneficial. Nothing is useless.
